The 49-key keyboard controller is made for performance and maximum expression, with velocity and aftertouch in addition to a set of knobs, faders and sensitive pads. Add to this the included Analog Lab software with an integrated user interface and over 5000 sounds from our V-Collection line of products, Keylab 49 is more than a controller, it is an instrument unto itself. With 49 keys, 2 banks of 10 encoders, two banks of 9 faders, 10 assignable switches and 16 velocity and pressure sensitive pads, Keylab 49 is perfect for studio and live use. But despite how great it looks in photos, I couldn't help feeling a bit underwhelmed when I started using it.Keylab 49 is Arturia's professional-grade MIDI keyboard, combined with the powerful Analog Lab software. In the end, I just needed a keyboard to work on Reaper with and it's absolutely fine for that. Arturia desperately needs to address this in a firmware fix because I've been close to sending mine back. They jump all over the place - impossible to use them to do even the most simple task like smoothly panning a track from left to right. By far the biggest problems are the controller knobs. The magnetic panel you attach depending on the DAW you're using is in no way suited to something claiming to be a premium product. The keyboard is at best OK - the buttons feel very cheap and click loudly on every press. The Arturia looks way better than it feels. A huge amount of work must have gone into putting Analog Lab together and it's really been worth it. From grand pianos to Fairlight samples, Prophets to ARPs - it's an incredible range. Thousands of superb sounds with plenty of customisation from the KeyLab's knobs and sliders.
